I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, and Mum to Kieran, Emily and Evie-Rose. I have worked alongside children and their families in the NHS for over 10 years. I have met the most amazing families who face significant challenges – challenges that could happen to any of us – yet somehow they often feel as though they have failed their child, by asking for support.

Parent Perspectives is about trying to break down some of the discourse barriers that get in the way of parents’ confidence, and ability to reach out for support. To recognise that if we all had a sense of our strengths and likely challenges from the moment we knew we were pregnant, then we might feel a little more confident about our parenting, and reassured about seeking support. Confident enough to understand our children; the kind of understanding that builds compassion; the kind of compassion that helps to shape confident children.
